U.S. News Ranks The University of Scranton in Top 10 Again

U.S. News & World Report ranked The University of Scranton among the top 10 Best Regional Universities in the North for the 17th consecutive year. Scranton tied for tenth in its category in the 2011 edition of “Best Colleges,” which also recognized Scranton for its commitment to teaching, graduation rates and value.

U.S. Rep. Paul E. Kanjorski announced $2.8 million in federal funding that enables a global manufacturer from northeast Pennsylvania and The University of Scranton to further the research and development needed to create one of the world’s most powerful lasers—an Exawatt laser (one exawatt is a billion billion watts). The University of Scranton is among the elite universities included in Forbes Magazine’s online listing of “America’s Best Colleges 2010,” published on Aug. 11. University of Scranton Names New Dean of College of Arts and Sciences

Harold Baillie, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs at The University of Scranton, has announced the appointment of Brian Conniff, Ph.D., as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Scranton’s largest undergraduate college that houses programs in the sciences, humanities, theology and social sciences, as well as the Special Jesuit Liberal Arts Honors Program and the University’s undergraduate Honors Program.
