Joint Statement from

The University of Scranton

and

MARYWOOD UNIVERSITY

Marywood University and The University of Scranton announced jointly today that they have finalized an agreement that will provide current third-year Marywood Nursing students an opportunity to complete their Nursing degree at the University of Scranton. Marywood’s Nursing program is currently accredited with conditions, pending outcome of appeal. The University of Scranton’s Nursing program is accredited with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and is fully approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

“Our primary concern is our students,” Sr. Anne Munley, IHM, Ph.D., President of Marywood University stated. “We are most grateful to the President of The University of Scranton, and to key administrators and Nursing faculty for forging this partnership in the best interests of our students.”

University of Scranton President Kevin P. Quinn, S.J., J.D., Ph.D., said, “Knowing the dedication of students who choose the nursing profession, we are pleased to be able to provide an option for Marywood’s current juniors to complete their degree.”

Through the agreement, third-year Nursing students in good standing at Marywood can apply for transfer to Scranton’s Nursing program.  Based on an evaluation, accepted students will be placed in an accelerated or traditional track with the potential to graduate in May or August of 2014, respectively.
