Twenty University of Scranton Faculty Receive Promotions

The University of Scranton granted the following faculty promotions and/or tenure effective with the beginning of the 2014-2015 academic year.

The following has been promoted to professor: Joseph Kraus, Ph.D., English and theatre.

The following have been named associate professor: George Aulisio, library; Sean Brennan, Ph.D, history; Will Cohen, Ph.D., theology; Christian Krokus, Ph.D., theology; Barry Kuhle, Ph.D., psychology; Catherine Lovecchio, Ph.D., nursing; and Donna Witek, library.

The following have been named associate professor and have been granted tenure: Carol Cote, Ph.D., occupational therapy; Paul Datti, Ph.D., counseling/human services; Sufyan Mohammed, Ph.D., communication; and Maria Oreshkina, Ph.D., education.

The following faculty members have been granted tenure: Paul Cutrufello, Ph.D., exercise science and sport; David J. Dzurec III, Ph.D., history; Shuhua Fan, Ph.D., history; Nathan Lefler, Ph.D., theology; Jessica Nolan, Ph.D., psychology; Cyrus P. Olsen III, Ph.D., theology; Ileana Szymanski, Ph.D., philosophy; and Kristen Yarmey, library.

Dr. Kraus received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, his master’s degree from Columbia University, and his doctorate from Northwestern University.

Prof. Aulisio received his bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University, and his master’s degrees from Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Brennan received his bachelor’s degree from Rockhurst University, his master’s degree from Villanova University and his doctorate from the University of Notre Dame.

Dr. Cohen received his bachelor’s degree from Brown University, his master’s degree from St. Vladmir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary and his doctorate from The Catholic University of America.

Dr. Krokus received his bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College and both his master’s degree and doctorate from Boston College.

Dr. Kuhle received his bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University and his doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Lovecchio received her bachelor’s degree from Villanova University, her master’s degree from College Misericordia (now Misericordia University), and her doctorate also from Villanova University.

Prof. Witek received her bachelor’s degree from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and her master’s degrees from Long Island University and The University of Scranton.

Dr. Cote received her bachelor’s degree from Kean University, her master’s degree form Montclair State University and her doctorate from Rutgers University.

Dr. Datti received his bachelor’s degree and doctorate from the Pennsylvania State University and his master’s degree from The University of Scranton.

Dr. Mohammad received his bachelor’s degree from the Jai Hind College, his master’s degrees from Rizvi Institute of Management Studies and Research and Rochester Institute of Technology, and his doctorate from Texas Tech University.

Dr. Oreshkina received her master’s degree from the Moscow State Pedagogical University and her doctorate at The University of Tennessee.

Dr. Cutrufello received his bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University, his master’s at Bloomsburg University, and his doctorate degree from Marywood University.

Dr. Dzurec received his bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University, his master’s degree from University of Connecticut, and his doctorate degree from The Ohio State University.

Dr. Fan received her bachelor’s degree from Sichuan Normal University, her master’s degree from Jilin University, and another master’s degree and her doctorate from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Lefler received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Chicago, his master’s degree from Yale Divinity School, and his doctorate from the Catholic University of America.

Dr. Nolan received her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, her master’s degree from California State University, and her doctorate from the University of Arkansas.

Dr. Olsen received his bachelor’s degree from University of Washington and both his master’s and doctorate degree from University of Oxford.

Dr. Szymanski received her bachelor’s degree from Universidad Panamericana and her master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Guelph.

Prof. Yarmey received her bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University and her master’s degree from University of Maryland.
