University of Scranton to Host Graduate and Adult Information Sessions

The College of Graduate and Continuing Education will host four information sessions for prospective graduate and adult students this fall. The sessions will provide information regarding all admissions requirements, program descriptions, and offer prospective students the chance to ask questions.


On Oct. 28, from 7 to 8 p.m. the University will hold an information session for those seeking a master’s degree in business administration in the fifth floor Board Room of Brennan Hall on campus. The University of Scranton’s MBA program received its accreditation from AACSB-International, and according to the 2009 Princeton Review guidebook, is ranked among the nation’s “Best 296 Business Schools.” MBA concentrations include accounting, finance, marketing, operations management, management information systems and international business.


Two information sessions for prospective nursing students are scheduled for Oct. 29. Adult undergraduate programs will be discussed from 6 to 7 p.m. in the first floor reading room of McGurrin Hall. Topics will include the LPN or RN to BSN programs, and transferring credits. The university’s graduate programs for nurses will be discussed from 7 to 8 p.m. in room 355 of McGurrin Hall. Scranton offers graduate nursing tracks in the following areas: adult health, family nurse practitioner and a nurse anesthesia master’s completion program for certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), certified registered nurse practitioners (CRNPs) and, certified nurse midwives (CNMs). The nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

On Nov. 8 at 10 a.m., an Adult Learner Day of Career Exploration is planned in room 102 of Hyland Hall. This three-hour workshop will help individuals identify and understand their goals; identify skills and interests; and match these skills with possible career options. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to work with an academic advisor and/or a career counselor to identify the type of program and institution that is best suited to meet educational and/or training needs.


The university will host an information session for students seeking their master’s degree in counseling on Nov. 10 from 7 to 8 p.m. in room 102, Hyland Hall. Scranton offers graduate programs in community counseling and school counseling, both of which are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Also offered is a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling, which is accredited by the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE). In addition to these programs, The University of Scranton offers certification in advanced graduate study in professional counseling.
