Cause and Impact of Credit Crisis Explained At University of Scranton Forum

The cause of the world’s current credit crisis will be explained and its repercussions explored at a panel discussion at The University of Scranton on Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Moscovitz Theater on the fourth floor of the Patrick and Margaret DeNaples Center. Kania School of Management faculty members will be joined by Peter Danchak, president, Northeast Region of PNC Bank, for the forum that will include time for questions from the audience. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

The panelists will discuss the origins of the crisis and attempted remedies, securitization or the pooling of mortgages and selling them as securities, the rescue plan, the impact on world financial markets, and the impact on northeast Pennsylvania, as well as the outlook for the next several months.

Joining Mr. Danchak as panelists will be University of Scranton faculty members Murli Rajan, Ph.D., associate professor of economics and finance and director of Scranton’s MBA program, Xuewu (Wesley) Wang, Ph.D., instructor of finance, and Frank Corcione, Ph.D., an associate professor of economics and finance. Edward Scahill, Ph.D., associate professor economics and finance, will moderate the discussion.
