University of Scranton Receives Donation for Scholarship

The University of Scranton recently received a check for $5,000 for the Scranton/Ballina Sister City Scholarship, granted to University of Scranton students who wish to study in Ireland. Monies for the scholarship were raised at a Saw Doctors concert held in March at the Scranton Cultural Center.
Scholarship recipients must be residents of northeastern Pennsylvania, and preferable, of the city of Scranton; study in Ireland; meet with the Scranton/Ballina Sister City Organization prior to traveling to and after returning from Ireland; must visit Ballina, Ireland, for at least two days while in Ireland; and attend a meeting of Ballina’s town council, and introduce himself or herself as the scholarship recipient.
