Free Financial Aid Application Assistance Offered to Area Residents

Area residents can receive free, hands-on assistance in navigating the student financial aid process at a “FAFSA Completion Day” program offered on Mar. 8 at Lackawanna College, 501 Vine St., Scranton. Current and prospective college students, parents and interested community residents can receive free, hands-on assistance in navigating the student financial aid process at two “FAFSA Completion Day” programs offered by financial aid representatives from colleges and universities in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties and the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA). The programs will be offered on Mar. 1, 2009, at the McGowan School of Business at King’s College and on Sunday, Mar. 8, at Lackawanna College.

On each day, a brief overview of the FAFSA application will be given at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., followed by a general question and answer session. In addition, computer stations will be available for participants to complete the application online. Financial aid professionals will be available to provide individual assistance as needed. Registration lines are open Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Colleges and organizations participating in the “FAFSA Completion Day” programs are Baptist Bible College, Johnson College, Keystone College, King’s College, Lackawanna College, Luzerne County Community College, Marywood University, Misericordia University, PHEAA, The University of Scranton and Wilkes University
