Free Financial Aid Application Assistance Offered to Area Residents
Area residents can receive free, hands-on assistance in navigating the student financial aid process at a “FAFSA Completion Day” program offered on Mar. 8 at Lackawanna College, 501 Vine St., Scranton. The program is offered by financial aid representatives from area colleges and universities and the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), including, seated from left, Crystal Ondrick, associate director financial assistance, Keystone College; and Rachael Lohman, eastern regional manager, PHEAA.; and standing from left, Stanley Skrutski, director of financial aid, Marywood University; Barbara Hapeman, director of financial aid, Lackawanna College; William Burke, director of financial aid, The University of Scranton; and Edward Moyer, director of financial aid, Johnson College. Current and prospective college students, parents and interested community residents can receive free, hands-on assistance in navigating the student financial aid process at two “FAFSA Completion Day” programs offered by financial aid representatives from colleges and universities in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties and the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA). The programs will be offered on Mar. 1, 2009, at the McGowan School of Business at King’s College and on Sunday, Mar. 8, at Lackawanna College.
On each day, a brief overview of the FAFSA application will be given at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., followed by a general question and answer session. In addition, computer stations will be available for participants to complete the application online. Financial aid professionals will be available to provide individual assistance as needed. Registration lines are open Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
