Diehl, Farinacci Perform at Scranton

Performance Music at The University of Scranton will present Aaron Diehl, pianist, and Dominick Farinacci, trumpeter "In Concert" at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, in the Houlihan-McLean Center on campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
 

The Chicago Tribune called Diehl "The most promising discovery that [Wynton] Marsalis has made since Eric Reed." He received the 2004 Martin E. Segal award for outstanding achievement in young artists and has been featured on Marian McPartland's NPR radio show Piano Jazz. His most recent solo CD, Mozart Jazz, has been released on the Pony Canyon label.

Farinacci has received two gold disc awards from Swing Journal Magazine, the International New Star award in Japan, and the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Competition. His seventh and most recent solo CD, Lovers, Tales and Dances, was released by KOCH Records in February of this year.

Both Farinacci and Diehl are among the first few years of graduates of The Jazz Studies Program at The Juilliard School, and have performed both solo and with other major artists at legendary jazz venues throughout the world.

On Sunday, March 29, Diehl will direct, perform solo, and accompany The University of Scranton Singers during their performance with the St. Joseph's Choir at St. Joseph of the Holy Family Church in Harlem, where Diehl serves as Music Director. The concert will begin at 3 p.m.
