Office of Equity and Diversity Hosts Hot Cocoa Social to Raise Awareness Regarding Mistreatment of Others

The University of Scranton’s Office of Equity and Diversity will host a Hot Cocoa Social around the BASTA! STOP!  theme from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb, 12.  The event, which is free of charge and open to the public, will take place in the Equity and Diversity offices (rooms 471 to 474) on the fourth floor of St. Thomas Hall. Activities will include the creation of a Wall of Commitment.

BASTA! STOP! is an international theme meaning “stop” or “enough” that has been related to a number of issues and causes. The Hot Cocoa Social will relate this theme to the harmful treatment of others based on equity and diversity issues.

“On the heels of Dr King’s celebration, situated in the middle of Black History Month, heralding both International Women’s Day (March 8) and International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (March 21), BASTA!STOP!  seems like a fitting theme to bring to the entire University Community, as well as our friends and family from Lackawanna and surrounding counties,” said Rosette Adera, director of the Office of Equity and Diversity. “We invite the community to come in from the cold and ‘lend a hand.’ We promise those attending will leave a lasting print for future generations.”
