Students Awarded President’s Research Fellowships
Six University of Scranton students were awarded President's Fellowship for Summer Research Awards for 2010.
Senior Christine Bennett of Ridgewood, N.J., will work with Jessica M. Nolan, Ph.D., Scranton, assistant professor of psychology, to study "Symbolic Racism and Self-Verification Theory: Who is Choosing to Take the Race IDT?"
Junior Michael Coco of Exeter will work with Joe Vinson, Ph.D., Dalton, professor of chemistry, to research"Chemical and Enzymatic Synthesis of Phenolic Metabolites: Necessary Compounds to Determine Their Bioactivity in Vivo."
Senior Maria Gubbiotti of Falls will work with Timothy Foley, Ph.D., Clarks Summit, associate professor of chemistry, to study "Investigation of the Oxidative Stress-Induced Disulfide Bond Formation in Protein Phosphatase 2A."
Senior Joanna Klimaski of Dover, N.J., will work with Daniel Haggerty, Ph.D., Clarks Green, associate professor of philosophy, to study "Mental Causation and Moral Agency."
Senior Brandon Kujawski of Scranton will work with Robert Waldeck, Ph.D., Scranton, associate professor of biology, to research "The Effects of Temperature on the Regenerative Capacity of Neurons in the Goldfish Spinal Cord."
Senior Caitlin McCarthy of Scranton will work with John Deak, Ph.D., Clarks Summit, associate professor of chemistry, to research "Structure and Arrangement of Water Molecules in the Bulk Water Domain of Reverse Micelles."
