Pennsylvania Night to Live: Vigils at Colleges Across PA to Remember LGBTQ

On Monday, Oct. 18, The University of Scranton along with over 15 other college campuses across Pennsylvania will host “Pennsylvania Night to Live” to remember those in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) community who have taken their lives. Students will wear white T-shirts with statements of awareness and remembrance during the day.

At 8 p.m., each campus will hold a vigil for Seth Walsh, Asher Brown, Billy Lucas, Justin Aaberg, Raymond Chase, Tyler Clementi and countless others who have lost their lives to LGBTQ bullying and harassment. Among colleges and universities involved are Allegheny College, Arcadia University, Bloomsburg University, Drexel University, Juniata College, King’s College, Lehigh University, Millersville University, Pennylvania State University-Brandywine, Pennsylvania State University-Harrisburg, Swarthmore College, Temple University, The University of Pennsylvania, The University of Pittsburgh, The University of Scranton and University of the Arts. This effort is organized by the Student Networking Across Pennsylvania (SNAP) and is being spearheaded by University of Scranton student Jessica Rothchild, SNAP regional chair for northeast Pennsylvania and president of Scranton Inclusion.
