University of Scranton Nationally Recognized for Value
Barron’s “Best Buys in College Education” (cover shown in image) and Kiplinger’s “Best Values in Private Colleges” have recognized The University of Scranton for is academic quality and affordability.
Two national publications have recognized The University of Scranton for the value of education it provides. Scranton is among just 100 universities in the nation listed in Kiplinger’s “Best Values in Private Colleges,” a ranking complied by the publisher of business forecasts and personal finance advice that “measures academic quality and affordability.” The University of Scranton is also among only 198 colleges in the nation listed in the 11th edition of Barron’s “Best Buys in College Education.”
To select and rank the 100 “Best Values in Private Colleges,” Kiplinger analyzed data on the selectivity, student/faculty ratio, graduation rate, total cost of attendance, average need-based aid awarded, average non-need based aid awarded and average debt at graduation of more than 600 private, master’s-level universities (based on the Carnegie classification). Scranton, ranked 73rd, is one of just seven universities in Pennsylvania listed, and is the only school in northeast Pennsylvania to be included in Kiplinger’s “Best Values in Private Colleges.”
The ranking will be published in the December issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine and is available online at Kiplinger.com.
Barron’s “Best Buys in College Education” lists colleges in the nation selected for providing “a first-class education at more affordable prices.” Surveys of students, academic quality measurements and costs of attendance information ware analyzed to select the 198 schools listed. The University of Scranton is among just 15 colleges in Pennsylvania listed. Scranton and King’s College in Wilkes-Barre are the only two colleges in northeast Pennsylvania included in Barron’s “Best Buys in College Education,” which published in August 2010.
