Public Safety Officer Wins Two National Scholarships

University of Scranton Student Officer Tiffany Roth ’11 was recently awarded two national scholarships from two professional law enforcement organizations.

Roth received the Mary Voswinkel Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators to a female undergraduate or graduate student who intends to pursue a career in law enforcement and who works in campus public safety. She also received a scholarship from the University and College Police Section of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. The scholarship is awarded to students who exemplify outstanding community commitment and academic excellence.

A double major in criminal justice and sociology with a psychology minor, Roth is beginning her third year in the student officer program at Scranton. Holding the rank of corporal, her duties include patrolling campus and special events, parking enforcement, dispatching, mentoring new recruits and assisting with crime prevention presentations. She also plays on the University’s ultimate Frisbee club team and volunteers at St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen and Clark Summit State Hospital.

During the summer, she serves as a camp counselor at Hi Hills Day Camp in Gladstone, N.J.

Roth plans to attend graduate school next year, studying forensic psychology. She hopes to work in the behavioral sciences field for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Roth is a native of South Plainfield, N.J., and a graduate of Allentown High School, Allentown, N.J. She is the daughter of Dale and Susan Roth of Belvidere, N.J.
