25th Annual Student Exhibit Celebrates Creativity

Mar 18, 2011

Each year, The Hope Horn Gallery sponsors a juried exhibition featuring works by students enrolled at The University of Scranton. Works submitted may be produced independently or may be projects assigned for studio courses offered through the University’s Art and Music program, which include color and design and three dimensional design, drawing, and painting. Pieces featured in this exhibition celebrate the wide variety of talents and interests of students at Scranton.

The 25th Annual Student Exhibition will be presented at the Hope Horn Gallery from Friday, April 1, to Friday, April 15.

“The process of drawing, painting or writing requires a person to organize his or her thoughts and understand a subject on another level,” said Darlene Miller-Lanning, Ph.D., director of The University of Scranton’s Hope Horn Gallery. “That kind of creative, ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking provides benefits in any major and any career.”

The exhibit will feature a public reception on April 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Hope Horn Gallery. An awards presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. The event is part of downtown Scranton’s First Friday art walk.

The Hope Horn Gallery, located in Hyland Hall, is open Sunday through Friday, from noon to 4 p.m., and on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. For additional information, contact The Hope Horn Gallery at 941-4214.
