Debut Performance of Scranton Brass Orchestra Slated for Sunday

The debut performance of The Scranton Brass Orchestra includes the Pennsylvania premieres of guest artist Wycliffe Gordon’s composition “Me/We” and his brass orchestra arrangement of “St. Louis Blues.”
The Scranton Brass Orchestra will present its debut performance on Sunday, June 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Houlihan McLean Center at The University of Scranton. Admission is free, and the performance is open to the public.

The ensemble, sponsored and presented by The University of Scranton and under the direction of Cheryl Boga and Mark Gould, is comprised of 24 professional brass and percussion players from the region. Guest soloists for the first performance are internationally acclaimed trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, Metropolitan Opera veteran trumpeter Mark Gould, and Juilliard jazz trumpeter Joseph Boga.

The program includes the Pennsylvania premieres of Gordon’s composition “Me/We” and his brass orchestra arrangement of “St. Louis Blues,” and Joseph Boga’s brass orchestra arrangement of Wynton Marsalis’s “Big Train.”
