The University of Scranton is once again among the elite schools profiled in The Princeton Review’s “The Best 377 Colleges” guidebook.

The University of Scranton is one of the best colleges in the nation, according to The Princeton Review. The Jesuit university is among the select set of schools profiled in the 2013 edition of the “The Best 377 Colleges” guidebook, which became available in bookstores Tuesday, Aug. 21.

According to the book’s publisher, outstanding academics is the primary criteria for inclusion in the book, which lists only about 15 percent of American’s 2,500 four-year colleges.

This is the 11th consecutive year that The University of Scranton has made The Princeton Review’s best colleges list.

The guidebook includes detailed profiles of the 377 selected colleges and ratings in eight categories, as well as rankings of the top 20 schools in more than 62 lists based on The Princeton Review’s survey of more than 122,000 students.

In the 2013 edition, Scranton students praised the support services available to students saying, “a tutoring center provides free tutoring for any students who may need it, and also provides work study positions for students who qualify to tutor.” Students also praised the University’s faculty, liberal arts curriculum, premed, occupational therapy and other science programs. Students also found Scranton to be “friendly and welcoming.”

In addition to The Princeton Review’s listing, Scranton has also been nationally recognized for excellence through rankings in U.S. News & World Report, which has rated Scranton among the top 10 Best Regional Universities in the North for 18 consecutive years; and among “Great Schools at a Great Price” for the past eight years. In July, Forbes.com ranked The University of Scranton among “American’s Best Colleges” for the fifth consecutive year.
