Area Residents Invited to Cultural Tour of Malaysia at The University of Scranton
Area residents can “Discover Malaysia” at a free event at The University of Scranton on Wednesday, April 3, that includes a sampling of food and a multimedia presentation about the history and culture of the Southeast Asian country. The event will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Moskovitz Theater of the DeNaples Center.
Presenters include Huey Shi Chew, director of international student and scholar services at the University, and students from Malaysia. The Malaysian Tourism Department of New York will also participate.
The program is part of the “Tour of Asia,” which is a yearlong series of events intended to raise awareness of Asian cultures in the greater Scranton community sponsored by University’s Asian Studies concentration.
The Asian Studies concentration is an interdisciplinary, 24-credit concentration that provides students with an understanding of the culturally diverse Asian region and is open to students of all majors.
For more information on April’s “Tour of Asia” event, call Ann Pang-White, Ph.D., professor and chair of the Philosophy Department and director of Asian Studies, at 941-6312.
