Loyola Science Center Featured as ‘Beacon for STEM’ Education
The University of Scranton’s new Loyola Science Center is featured as a “beacon” for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education in Science on Display, a website published by EYP Architecture and Engineering as a way to highlight their creation of environments to engage more students in the STEM fields. University of Scranton students, faculty and staff discuss the ways in which the design of the $85 million center facilitates teaching, learning and sustainability through a series of digital recordings.
“It’s almost as if the science building is the ground on which you cultivate learning. That’s where the seeds of curiosity grow. That’s where students can start to bloom intellectually,” said Alice Chen-Liaw ’16, a biochemistry cell and molecular biology major and member of the University’s Special Jesuit Liberal Arts Honors Program.
The site also features science facilities at The College of the Holy Cross, Wheaton College and New York University, among others.
EYP served as the architect for the University’s Loyola Science Center.
