Scranton Brass Orchestra Empty Stocking Fund Benefit Concert Set for Sunday

Dec 10, 2013

The Scranton Brass Orchestra’s Empty Stocking Fund Benefit Concert
will be held Sunday, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at The University of Scranton’s Houlihan McLean Center.

Admission is open to the public, and all who attend the concert are asked to bring a new unwrapped child’s toy, article of children’s clothing, or a monetary donation. All donations directly benefit the children of local families in need this holiday season through  collaboration with the holiday outreach initiatives of United Neighborhood Center’s Project Hope.

In honor of the University’s 125th anniversary, the benefit concert has a goal of collecting a total of at least 1888 items/dollars in commemoration of the year of the University’s founding.

For those who may wish to contribute, but are unable to attend the concert, donations and gifts may be brought to the Houlihan McLean Center’s Jefferson Avenue entrance between the hours of 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, or Friday, Dec. 13.

For additional information, contact Cheryl Y. Boga, director of performance music at the University and co-director of the Scranton Brass Orchestra, at 570-941-7624 or at www.scranton.edu/music.
