University to Host ‘Back to School Bonanza’ for Area Children
The University of Scranton and community partners will host a “Back to School Bonanza” for area children and their families from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, at Lackawanna County Courthouse Square.
Geared to children from 3 to 12 years of age, the free event will include face-painting, music, crafts, refreshments, prizes and other family-oriented activities and educational games.
The event is hosted by the University’s Center for Student Engagement, Office of Campus Ministries, the Jesuit Center, the Center for Service and Social Justice and the Office of Community Relations in partnership with community partners: Lackawanna County, Scranton School District, State Representative Frank Farina, State Representative Marty Flynn, NEPAMOM.com, and other participating organizations. It is part of the University’s Fall Welcome activities for its Class of 2019.
The event will be cancelled in the case of heavy rainfall.
