University to Hold Fair for Nonprofit Organizations Looking for Volunteers

Aug 14, 2015

The University of Scranton is seeking local nonprofit organizations that need student volunteers.

The University’s Center for Service and Social Justice will hold its annual fair for local non-profit organizations seeking college-age volunteers on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on campus.

The fair provides a forum for University students and student clubs interested in service projects to meet with area nonprofit organizations offering volunteer opportunities.

Last year, more than 750 students and 60 nonprofit organizations participated in the fair.

During the 2013-2014 academic year, a total of 2,853 University students participated in community service programs, volunteering a total number of 175,000 hours.

For more information or to register your nonprofit organization for the fair, email ellen.judge@scranton.edu or call 570-941-7429. The registration deadline to participate is Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Nationally recognized for service, the University is among the just 361 colleges in America to achieve Community Engagement Classification from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Scranton was among just 766 higher education institutions in the nation named to the 2014 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.
