The University of Scranton’s Asian Studies Program will co-present, with the Taiwan Ministry of Culture and the Taiwan Academy, a three-part film series by several internationally renowned directors, themed “Halloween in Asian Style Film Festival” in October. Three award-winning films will be shown with English subtitles, free of charge and open to the public, on separate dates in the Moskovitz Theater of the DeNaples Center.

The screening for the 1983 Chinese film, “The Wheel of Life” will take place Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. The film explores a love triangle lived out through three lifetimes as its participants are reincarnated. Their life cycles are bound by fate, murder and an ancient dagger.

The screening for the 1992 Chinese film “Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land” will take place Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. The comedic film tells the story of two separate theater troupes fused on stage by accident as they both have to rehearse for their separate plays at the same time.

The third and final screening will show the 2013 Chinese film “Soul” and will take place Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. The film explores a demonic possession, the family secrets that surround it, and the relationship between father and son.
