Times-Shamrock/University of Scranton Lecture Features Ireland’s Ambassador to the United Nations

David Donoghue, Ambassador of Ireland to the United Nations, will discuss “Ireland’s Role in the World: Sustainable Development, Peace and Human Rights” at The University of Scranton and Times-Shamrock Communications Lecture on Tuesday, March 1.  The lecture, presented a free and open to the public, begins at 5:30 p.m. in the McIlhenny Ballroom of the DeNaples Center.

Ambassador Donoghue’s distinguished diplomatic career spans four decades. He has served as Permanent Representative of Ireland to the United Nations since 2013. He served as a co-facilitator with Kenya of major United Nations negotiations, which led to the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in September 2015.

Ambassador Donoghue served as Irish Ambassador to Germany, Irish Ambassador to Austria and the Vienna-based United Nation agencies, and Irish Ambassador to Russian Federation, with side accreditations to Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. His postings include service to the Irish Embassy to the Holy See, the Irish Embassy to Germany, the Irish Permanent Mission to the United Nations and the Irish Embassy in London.
