University of Scranton Alumni Lecture Series Features Local Scholar

The University of Scranton Department of English and Theatre’s second annual Alumni Lecture will feature William Conlogue, Ph.D., professor of English at Marywood University. Dr. Conlogue will discuss his current research “On the Measures: Learning in a Working Land,” which he says “includes literary analysis, some personal experience and explorations of local and national history.”

The author of two books, “Working the Garden: American Writers and the Industrialization of Agriculture” and “Here and There: Reading Pennsylvania’s Working Landscapes,” Dr. Conlogue earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from The University of Scranton. He earned his doctorate from the University of Maryland.

The lecture, which is free of charge and open to the public, will take place Wednesday, March 30, at 5:30 p.m. in the Studio Theatre of the McDade Center for Literary and Performing Arts. A reception will follow the lecture.

The Alumni Lecture Series features a discussion by a graduate of the University’s Department of English and Theatre annually.
