PA Secretary of Health Speaks at University’s Community Breakfast

Jul 20, 2016

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Health and Scranton alumna Karen Murphy, Ph.D., spoke at The University of Scranton’s community breakfast, which was held recently on campus. Organized by the University’s Office of Community Relations, the breakfast for community leaders focused on “Improving Health for all Pennsylvanians” and was part of the University’s ongoing efforts to draw attention to a “Living Wage” - what it costs to live a modest but dignified life in Northeastern Pennsylvania. In April, the University released a Living Wage Study in partnership with The Institute for Public Policy and Economic Development. From left are: Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of Scranton; Dr. Murphy; University of Scranton President Kevin P. Quinn, S.J.; Catherine P. Lovecchio, Ph.D., professor of nursing; and Julie Schumacher Cohen, director of community and government relations at the University.
