Volunteer and Service Fair Draws Large Crowd

The University of Scranton’s annual event packed the McIlhenny Ballroom with University students, community members and outside organizations.

The University of Scranton’s annual Volunteer and Service Fair was held Tuesday inside the McIlhenny Ballroom at the DeNaples Center. About 800 students and 70 organizations attended the event.

About 800 University of Scranton students attended Tuesday’s Volunteer and Service Fair, which brought about 70 organizations to the McIlhenny Ballroom inside the DeNaples Center.

The annual event, hosted by the University’s Center for Service and Social Justice, connects students with opportunities to participate in programs that benefit various individuals and communities in need.

Tuesday’s two-hour fair featured organizations dedicated to addressing homelessness, food insecurity, civic engagement, education, health care, hospice, support for children and older adults, individuals with disabilities and a range of other community needs.

University of Scranton students volunteer tens of thousands of hours of service per year, participating in countless community service activities.
