Scranton One of ‘America’s Best Colleges,’ Per TIME Magazine

The University of Scranton is one of America’s Best Colleges, according to an inaugural ranking produced by TIME Magazine in partnership with data research firm Statista.

TIME’s list consists of 500 colleges and universities that earned the highest final scores based on a model structured around three key pillars: Student Outcomes, Learning Environment and Attractiveness.

The rankings were weighted heavily toward Student Outcomes, which accounted for 75% of a college’s final grade. According to TIME, this category “assesses what students gain from attending an institution, measured after they leave it.” TIME used three data components — graduates’ earnings, graduation rate and return on education — to determine each college’s Student Outcomes value.

The University of Scranton had a strong performance in the Student Outcomes pillar, ranking No. 150 in the nation.

Overall, Scranton is No. 241, ranking ahead of in-state colleges and universities including Washington and Jefferson, Duquesne, Pitt and Temple, among others.
