Scranton Recognized for HR Pass Rate

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) notified The University of Scranton’s Center for Professional Training and Development that it achieved a 100 percent rate for its students who took the Professional Human Resource Certification exam during the 2007/2008 testing period. The center has offered the SHRM Learning System course for 12 years and has received a 100 percent pass rate for the past three consecutive years and a 95 percent pass rate for nine preceding years.

According to Michele Davis, director of the university’s Center for Professional Training and Development, the average national pass rate is 60 percent.

The university’s Center for Professional Training and Development offers the SHRM Learning System course to prepare human resource professionals for the Professional in Human Resource and the Senior Professional in Human Resources certification exams. The course concentrates on the six functional areas as defined by the Human Resource Certification Institute. The curriculum includes six modules: strategic management, workforce planning and employment, human resource development, compensation and benefits; employee and labor relations, and occupational health, safety and security. The curriculum is designed by subject matter experts and includes applications and exercises to assist in developing competencies.

The next SHRM Learning System course will be conducted on Saturdays, beginning on February 7 at the Monroe Career & Technical Institute in Bartonsville in Monroe County.
