University of Scranton to Host Student Concerts
The University of Scranton Performance Music will present a concert by The University of Scranton Symphonic Band an Friday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m., and a concert by the String Orchestra on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 3 p.m. Both performances, free and open to the public, will take place in the Houlihan-McLean Center on Jefferson Avenue and Mulberry Street.
The Symphonic Band will perform a varied program that includes works by composers Vaclav Nelhybel, Philip Sparke, William Schuman, Samuel Hazo, Modeste Moussorgsky and John Williams.
The String Orchestra program includes works by Bach, Copland, Holst, Tschaikowsky, Gabrieli and others.
