A group of students recently returned from Las Vegas, Nevada, where they represented The University of Scranton at this year’s Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership Conference.

Continuing the trend of Scranton FBLA members returning from state and national competitions with prizes, four Scranton students finished in the top 10 of their respective categories:

  • Gary Mrozinski, a finance major from Taylor, placed third nationally in the Foundations of Finance category.
  • Mallory Woodland, an advertising/public relations major from Nazareth, placed third nationally in the Foundations of Communication category.
  • Kaeli Romanowski, a finance major from Lake Ariel, placed ninth nationally in the Foundations of Management category.
  • Lillian Stein, a cybercrime and homeland security major from Lehighton, placed ninth nationally in the Computer Applications category.

Earlier this year, Scranton had its best showing to date at the FBLA State Leadership Conference with four state champions and five runners-up.

David Mahalak, D. Eng., assistant professor of operations and analytics, is the University’s FBLA moderator and accompanied the students, whose experience also included networking and taking in the sights of the Las Vegas Strip.

Established in 1942, FBLA is the world’s largest organization of its kind, annually helping 230,000-plus members in middle school, high school and college prepare for careers in various business fields.
