Community Asked to Support Student Aid

Nov 15, 2011

A message from University of Scranton President Kevin P. Quinn, S.J., to students, faculty and staff encourages support of the Student Aid Alliance’s initiative to discourage cuts to the Pell Grant and Federal Student Loan Programs.

Students, faculty and staff at Scranton were encouraged sign a “Save Student Aid: Statement of Support” created by the Student Aid Alliance, which is a coalition of 62 higher education organizations in support of federal student aid.

“All of you know the value of a college education, and particularly of a Scranton education,” said Father Quinn in the message sent on Nov. 11. “I write to you today to enlist your help in preserving and protecting vital student aid programs that make college accessible for students here at The University of Scranton and throughout our nation.”

The letter also stated that 915 University of Scranton students currently receive $3.3 million in Federal Pell Grants.
