The University of Scranton Listed Among ‘America’s Best Graduate Schools’

Mar 13, 2012

Several of The University of Scranton’s master’s degree programs are ranked among U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools” 2013 listings, which became available on its website on Tuesday, March 13. The printed version of the 2013 edition of the guidebook will be published April 3.

The University’s graduate programs ranked on the website include rehabilitation counseling (30); health administration and human resources (46); occupational therapy (69); physical therapy (99); and nursing (193); as well as the University’s part-time MBA program (220).

U.S. News annually ranks graduate programs in the categories of business, education, engineering, law and medicine based on an expert opinion survey and analysis of statistical data related to a school’s faculty, research and students. In addition, U.S. News periodically ranks graduate programs in the sciences, social sciences, humanities and health based on the ratings given by academic experts.

U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools” also includes a listing of the 441 institutions accredited by AACSB International, the most recognized and respected business school accrediting body. Only five percent of business degree-granting institutions in the world hold this prestigious accreditation, which The University of Scranton has maintained since 1995. All of the University’s graduate programs hold the highest national accreditation within each discipline.

Earlier this year, U.S. News & World Report ranked The University of Scranton’s online MBA program No. 1 nationally and its online graduate education programs No. 2 in the nation for “Teaching Practices and Student Engagement.” The new U.S. News ranking of online degree programs, published in January, listed schools by degree program in categories such as “Teaching Practices and Student Engagement,” “Student Services and Technology,” “Faculty Credentials and Training,” and “Admissions Selectivity,” as well as a general “Honor Roll” listing of schools that scored the highest in three of the four categories.

In addition, the University has ranked among the top 10 “Best Regional Universities in the North” for 18 consecutive years in the U.S. News undergraduate guidebook. The 2012 edition of the guidebook also included Scranton in its list of “Great Schools at a Great Price” and among just 45 “up and coming” colleges in the nation.
