University of Success Now Accepting Applications
The University of Scranton’s University of Success is currently accepting applications from eighth grade students to enter the multi-year, pre-college program in the summer of 2014.
Students currently enrolled in the eighth grade who plan to a public high school and possess a strong desire to attend college in the future may apply. Additional program requirements are listed on the University of Success website.
The University of Success is designed for high school students to develop the skills needed to successfully gain entrance to college and includes enrichment courses for students in study skills, SAT preparation, public speaking, math, science, art and cultural activities, as well as financial aid and wellness seminars. The program provides hands-on learning experiences and field trips designed to engage the students in creative thinking and abstract problem solving.
Incoming University of Success students will participate in a two-week residential program on the University’s campus from Sunday, July 6, through Friday, July 18. Students then continue to participate in the program through their four years of high school with the ultimate goal of gaining acceptance into a four-year college or university.
Applications may be obtained at guidance offices in area schools; online at The University of Scranton’s University of Success website (http://www.scranton.edu/academics/pcps/leahy/success/admissions.shtml); by calling the University of Success Office at 570-941-4377; or by emailing Margaret Loughney, University of Success program director, at margaret.loughney@scranton.edu.
