Upcoming University Community Events
Each year, the University Community traditionally marks the beginning of the new academic year through a series of events. Below is a listing of such events that you are invited to attend.
Saturday, Aug. 24
Move-in for residential students of the Class of 2023
Move-in runs from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in various locations near the first-year student residence halls. If you have never seen the well-organized move-in process on our campus, you should really try to experience this amazing time. If you would like to volunteer your time, you can sign up on the my.scranton portal.
Class of 2023 Welcome Mass
Everyone is welcome to attend the Mass at 4:00 p.m. in the Byron Center. This is the first Mass of the academic calendar.
Friday, Aug. 30
Fall Convocation is scheduled at 3:30 p.m in the McDade Center for Literary and Performing Arts. The program features introduction of new faculty; presentation of the John L. Earl, III Distinguished Service Award; and the President’s address. A reception will follow the Convocation in Brennan Hall 509.
Thursday, Sept. 5
Mass of the Holy Spirit will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in the Byron Center. Classes will be canceled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to allow time for faculty, staff and students to attend. Note that again this year we will forego faculty robing for the Mass. All should be aware that the Mass is for all members of the University community. The Mass will be followed by a picnic on the DeNaples Patio.
