Student Volunteers ‘Feed a Family’ for Thanksgiving

The University's Center for Service and Social Justice worked with several dozen students to pack and deliver 150 holiday meals.

Nearly 100 students bagged, loaded and delivered food to local families as part of The University of Scranton’s Thanksgiving Feed-a-Family Project.

This annual imitative, organized by the University’s Center for Service and Social Justice (CSSJ), featured significant involvement from nearly 100 students including several dozen members of the men’s lacrosse team who worked alongside CSSJ staff members to bring holiday cheer to families in need.

Food was purchased with contributions from the University’s annual drive and supplemented by donations from Wegmans and the Weinberg Food Bank. Volunteers began packing bags on the morning of Sunday, Nov. 23, and within hours, had delivered 150 Thanksgiving meals to residents of Valley View Housing and Hilltop Apartments in Scranton.
