The University of Scranton Players will present the world premiere production of "Frisk," written and directed by Sean Meehan '97, an alum of The University of Scranton and its theatre program. The production will run from Nov. 4 to Nov. 9. The Wednesday through Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and the Sunday show is at 2 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance. All performances are in the Studio Theatre of the McDade Center for the Literary and Performing Arts on the University's campus.

The play is about a dystopian present, where people have been forced out of their homes to live in motels while government agents get rid of an infestation of “not us.” A father draws the attention of these agents when he goes on the run to get his family’s certificates. When the agents come to interrogate the family, they stumble upon an unpleasant secret that the family is hiding. Through its story, the play tackles themes such as government overreach, immigration, parenthood and gender roles.

This production is the first time "Frisk" has been fully staged, following two readings in New York City. As a result, the student actors working on the production have a rare opportunity to gain experience as part of a developmental production of a new work.

The company of "Frisk" includes Devon Donnelly, of Chester, New Jersey; Laila Sidney, of Dobbs Ferry, New York; Thomas Crawford, of Saint Augustine, Florida; Alek Panchik, of Hershey; and Marcus Smith, of Schuylkill Haven.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $7 for senior citizens, students and University of Scranton faculty and staff. For more information, contact the University Players box office at 570-941-4318 or visit the Players on Facebook or Instagram.
