“Heroic Leadership” Discussed at The University of Scranton

Nov 3, 2008
The author of Heroic Leadership, Chris Lowney, will return to The University of Scranton to be the inaugural presenter at the Leadership Speaker Series sponsored by the Student Activities and Orientation Office at Scranton. The lecture, which is offered free of charge and is open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. on Nov. 12 in the ballroom of the Patrick and Margaret DeNaples Center. A book-signing will follow the lecture.

In Heroic Leadership, Lowney, a former Jesuit seminarian turned business executive, examines how the 450-plus-year-old Jesuit formula for success can be used to practice effective leadership by present and future business professionals. Heroic Leadership was a number one best-seller of the Catholic Book Publishers Association in 2003. His recently released second book, A Vanished World: Medieval Spain’s Golden Age of Enlightement, was awarded a starred review by Publisher’s Weekly.

Lowney, who speaks on several subjects, including leadership, business ethics and inter-religious dialogue, was formerly a managing director at J.P. Morgan & Co. and held positions in New York, London, Tokyo and Singapore.

A new initiative at The University of Scranton, the Leadership Speaker Series will bring distinguished speakers to campus to discuss leadership perspectives from their area of expertise.
