University Hosts Orientation for Class of 2017
The University will host two-day orientation sessions for the more than 900 members of the Class of 2017 and their parents and guests July 8-9, 11-12, 15-16 and 18-19 at locations throughout campus.
Orientation is designed to introduce new students and their families to the University’s procedures, facilities and support services, and to provide them with the opportunity to meet with faculty, administrators, staff, as well as each other. In incoming class members represents 15 states, Ireland and China, and more than 400 high schools.
At the July orientation sessions, students complete chemistry, mathematics, foreign language and composition placement tests. They also meet academic advisors, attend presentations on support services and extracurricular activities, and participate in recreational and social activities.
Parents and guests learn about the new role they will now play as parents of a college student as well as the resources and programs offered by University Ministries, Information Resources, Financial Aid, the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence and other departments at the University.
The entire class of 2017 will assemble on campus for the first time at Fall Welcome on Saturday, Aug. 24.
