Jon-Erik Kellso and The EarRegulars Sat., Feb. 4 at The University of Scranton

Performance Music at The University of Scranton will feature a concert by Jon-Erik Kellso and The EarRegulars on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the University’s Houlihan-McLean Center (Mulberry Street at Jefferson Avenue). Admission is free, and the performance is open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis.

Kellso has been leading The EarRegulars at New York City’s Ear Inn on Sunday nights since 2007. He is also a member of Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks, and has enjoyed performing and recording with Howard Alden, Milt Hinton, Dick Hyman, Catherine Russell, Linda Ronstadt, Leon Redbone, Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Ken Peplowski, Bob Wilbur and many others. He performs regularly at all the major New York City jazz venues, including Rose Hall and Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Mezzrow, Small’s, Birdland, the Blue Note, the Jazz Standard, The Louis Armstrong House Museum and Iguana.

Recent engagements include: a week at Jazz at Lincoln Center with Wynton Marsalis’ Louis Armstrong Continuum; concerts there with Cecile McLorin Salvant; leading The EarRegulars at the Bohém Ragtime and Jazz Fest in Hungary, the Detroit Jazz Fest and the Moab (Utah) Music Fest; various appearances on Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion” live Public Radio International show, including a live cinecast to movie theaters with Elvis Costello; concerts at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., with John Lithgow; tours of the U.S. and Japan with Ken Peplowski’s Kingdom of Swing big band; annual appearances in jazz clubs and festivals in New Orleans; and jazz parties, festivals and concerts all over the world.

Kellso can be heard on several television and movie soundtracks, including “Ghost World,” “The Aviator,” “Mildred Pierce,” “Bessie” and “The Knick” with Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks. He was also seen on screen as well as heard in “Revolutionary Road” and the HBO series “Boardwalk Empire.” He can be heard on more than 100 CDs, including six as a leader and three with his mentor Ruby Braff.
