On Aug. 8, the Scranton Cultural Center will host the 2018 Governor's Awards for the Arts, which celebrates artists and organizations who contributed to the arts in the Commonwealth. The ceremony will take place in the Scranton Cultural Center beginning at 7 p.m. and ending at 10 p.m.

The artists being given awards are: Quiara Alegria Hudes, who will receive the Distinguished Arts Award, Mira Nakashima, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award and Tina Williams Brewer, who will receive the Artist of the Year Award.

The two organizations being given awards are: the Scribe Video Center, which will receive the Arts Leadership and Service Award and the C.F. Martin & Co. Inc., which will receive the Special Recognition for Advancing the Arts Award.

Tickets for the ceremony can be obtained at the Scranton Cultural Center Box Office.
