The Staff Senate would like to thank all staff members who took the time to recognize and share their colleagues' accomplishments, sense of community, and dedication to excellence. The Meg Cullen Brown Magis Award would not exist without our caring community!

THE MEG CULLEN-BROWN MAGIS AWARD WINNER for October 2026 is:
Melisa Gallo – Library

How long have you worked at the University?
I have worked at The University of Scranton since February 2022.

What is your title?
My title is InterLibrary Loan and Collections Assistant.

What do you like best about your job?
One of the best parts of my job is helping our students, faculty, and staff find books and articles that they are searching for. The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) office also sends articles around the world, which is neat to enhance scholarship and research. In addition, I get to work with wonderful colleagues in the Library and across campus!

What do you like to do for fun?
I like to spend time with my family (including my beloved cat, Simba) and friends. I enjoy reading, watching the latest films in the movie theatre, crafting and attending trivia events.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and celebrate the good work that Melisa does on a daily basis. We hope you will join us in personally congratulating Melisa and all our nominees. Melisa will receive a complimentary food donation at our fabulous University food service outlets and a reserved parking space in the DeNaples Parking Pavilion. Each winner is also invited to the Staff Senate Recognition event in May 2027 to receive a certificate of appreciation.

We congratulate Melisa and all the wonderful nominees for being recognized as “Magis” employees!
